表皮膚腫が出てすぐなら、がんはごく早期のことが多い。エックス線などでは見えない小さながんでも、黒色表皮腫はできる。この段階で治療すればがんは完治する可能性が高く、がんが消えれば表皮腫も治る。
痛みがないため放置してしまう人が多いが、「思い当たる症状があったらすぐに皮膚科を受診してほしい。命拾いにつながるかもしれません」と、安部正敏群馬大学講師は話している。
